I resolve to call her up a thousand times a dayAnd ask her if she'll marry me in some old fashioned wayBUT MY SILENT TEARS HAVE GRIPPED ME!!Long before I reach the phone, long before my tongue has tripped meMUST I ALWAYS BE ALONE?? outfit: shirt, jeans That made sense to Ivy. Artists loved cities, but DC was a city, so her story didn't hold. DC wasn't really all that country--maybe the surrounding areas were. But DC itself.... Granted Ivy had only been there a few times for family reunions and school trips to the White House.
Tempy wasn't one to rush things, so why leave home when she'd have to leave for college in the fall? She was close with her parents and sister in a way that Ivy wasn't close to her parents. What was going on?
"There's more, isn't there?"

Temp set her water bottle on the coffee table and took a deep breath. She didn't know if telling Ivy was a good idea or not, what with her being pregnant and everything, but she figured she'd find out sooner or later. "There was an accident back home." She said, quieter than normal, her throat getting dry. "Mom and Dad were picking up V from dance class and uhm, a trucker ran a red light." She said, emotionless. She didn't want sympathy or pity, she just wanted to move on and forget it. "They all died on impact." She said and looked up, not a tear in her eyes.

Ivy had never been the emotional type, so she didn't cry, but she was more choked up that she had expected --damn hormones--- and she gave her cousin a tight hug, tight as she could with her stomach the way it was. She didn't say a word. What could you say? It was Tempy's parents and sister, it had been her aunt, uncle and cousin. Ivory had always liked them.
"I... can't believe it. That's terrible." Ivy said quietly, looking at Temperance, but tit was clear by her stoic nature that she either didn't want to talk about it or was sort of in denial or something. It didn't really matter though, nothing Ivy could have said would be the right thing.

I’ve given up on giving up slowly, I’m blending in so You won’t even know me apart from this whole world that shares my fate This one last bullet you mention is my one last shot at redemption because I know to live you must give your life awayAnd I’ve been housing all this doubt and insecurity and I’ve been locked inside that house all the while You hold the key And I’ve been dying to get out and that might be the death of me And even though, there’s no way in knowing where to go, promise I’m going becauseI gotta get outta here "Yes, it's awful, but Mom always said, "no use crying over spilled milk." So best to just move on." Temp said looking at the floor, trying to make an illogical situation logical. She never really showed any emotion other then stress.

Crazy. That was a lame excuse not to feel her feelings, but there was no use in disagreeing with Tempy, if she didn't want to talk to Ivy about her family's sudden and tragic death, then they wouldn't think about it.
Ivy put and arm around her cousin, not sure what to say. "Whatever you say." She said with a small sad smile.

Veronica and Temp had been very close. Her little sister was her best friend. They always spent time together, and had little sleepovers in the backyard. Not thinking about never seeing her again was a way to get by for now.
"Do you wanna eat here tonight? We can get Indian. I don't remember if you like Indian. We could get Chinese instead. I don't know what you should be eating with that baby. I know there's no red M&Ms or standing near the microwave. Maybe I should just cook." She said, rambling again and got up off the couch and walked into the kitchen to see what she had.

Its too depressing for you to eat all alone. I'll just have to call Robbie and tell him he's on his own. We live together now so usually we eat together." Ivy explained fishing her phone out of her pocket. Family was family, and Robbie would understand, and if he didn't believe that's really where she was he could come pick her up. Besides, she didn't know how long he'd be working.

As soon as she found a place, she called them up and started ordering random things.
"Should be here in twenty minutes," Temp said as she hung up the phone and walked back into the living room.
"So you live at his place, I'm guessing since you live in a dorm room." She said and sat back down and grabbed the TV remote to see what was on.

Mmmm, chinese was sounding better by the minute. Sometimes it was good to be craving stuff. And it would be nice to reconnect with Tempy, it had been a while. poor girl would have no friends here and her parents lived too far away. She'd be lonely all the time. Ivy would try to come over as much as she could.
"Yeah, I moved out of my dorm, and his roommate moved out and I moved in." Ivy said sliding her phone away again.

People confused her too much. She didn't understand why people did the things they did. So solitude, she preferred it to being in a room with a bunch of people. It was peaceful and quiet.
"Oh, how quaint. Is it a nice place? I know some of the places around here are kind of... awful, I guess for lack of a better word." She said with a shrug as she flipped through the channels.

Nice enough anyway. It wasn't a palace, but it was good, it wasn't a dump. But she'd live in a card board box if she could live there with Robbie. She really did love him.
Ivy sat down on the couch next to Tempy as she flipped through the TV channels. She'd been watching a bunch of TV shows and movies lately, she had nothing else to do.
