Indie took the book from her as she offered it. He held it in his hands, glancing over the words and flicking the pages quickly, and turning the book over in his hands. Back when he actually went to school, he was never the academic type. In fact, he never paid attention in any lesson, even music. He had a lot to deal with during his schooling years, so he found the best way to deal with it was to misbehave in school. If the teachers thought of him as nothing but a troublemaker, they would eventually give up and he would not have to worry about them ever discovering his secret habit and other occupation. Although it was only when he was caught with cocaine in his locker that the rest of the events in his life began to unfold. "Have you been in many plays?" he asked, handing her back the book.
Smiling, Indie shook his head and reached over her to place a hand on the door. "Ladies first," he told her, holding the door firmly in his hands. He enjoyed playing the part of the gentleman.

Toni laughed and went in ahead of him. "Well, I got leads in high school, when they weren't musicals. I can sing but I'm not lead singer material. I did a few plays at random performing arts centers. But big time acting, not really." She explained to him as she got on line thinking she might just get a donut. It was a bit hot for coffee but maybe, she'd see what she felt like when she got to the counter.
"So I'm really hoping I get a part in this, its one of my favorites, and it'll be sorta a big break for me." She continued. Maybe he would come see her if she got in. She made a mental note to exchange emails or phone numbers.

Indie nodded as she spoke, reaching up to brush his fringe back again before following her in. It was slightly cooler inside then it was outside, but not by much. They obviously had some sort of poor air conditioning system. The fact it was crammed inside didn't help, even if it was mostly people just grabbing a quick order to go. As they reached the queue, he pulled his gutair off his back and rested it between the floor and his skinny elbow. "Everyone gets a big break at some point," he said, "They always happen when you least expect." A trace of a smile danced on his lips as he remembered his.
Indie looked over at the counter and debated on what he wanted. Another problem of his was the fact he could never come to a decision on things; bet anything he would end up having whatever Toni ordered.

Toni smiled at him, "Well if I get a part I'll be sure to tell you, and you tell em when you're on the radio again. I'd like to hear you play." She said. And she did want to hear him play, she wanted to cheer him on. And for some reason she really did want him to see her act.
When she reached the counter she simply said what came to mind. She wasn't a big planner. "I'll have a donut with the chocolate frosting and sprinkles please, the one there," She said pointing. "And I'll take a small iced coffee please." She said. it was just too hot for normal coffee.
The man gave her the order and she smiled at him kindly as she handed him the money.

Indie nodded, a smile still playing on his lips. "Yeah that would be great," he said enthusiastically, "I could do with some culture." A small chuckle escaped his lips as he brushed down his clothes. Normally, the idea of sitting and watching a play would bore him to distraction, but he liked the thought of watching someone he knew transform into someone else entirely. In a nice way. He had seen men he thought were kind, turn into violent phsycopaths, so he enjoyed the idea of a play; light-hearted.
Indie reached out and grabbed hold of her wrist in an attempt to stop her paying. "I got this," he winked at her, before smiling up at the guy behind the counter. "I''ll have the same please, mate." He reached into his pocket and pulled out some cash, waiting to be given his beverages before handing over the money.

"Thanks," She told Indie as he paid. Toni scooped up her things, now really having enough hands to carry his too. "I say we sit down in here because its at least a tiny bit cooler." Not much cooler, and there was no breeze, but the sun wasn't beating down on them in here.
Toni took her seat gracefully, taking a good sized bite of her donut, licking the chocolate off her lips. Ah, the simple pleasures. Toni had always been a simple person, simple personality. She didn't need a lot to be content.

Indie smiled at her before following to a table to sit down. They were lucky to find somewhere to sit really; it was packed. He had hauled his gutair over too, slipping it up and other the seat next to him. This instrument was his pride and joy; he could not risk it getting damaged. The case was plain black, hiding the bright blue acoustic gutair that it was encased in. It was the gutair he had been playing when the agency he was with now discovered him. It was his lucky mascot.
As Indie went to take a bit from his doughnut, he cringed as one of his songs began to play over the speaker system. He was proud of his music, but all this radio coverage was making him sick of his own songs.

Toni watched him cringe and furrowed her eyebrows, what was the matter? Something she did? The donut? She eyed him carefully and discretely, but she wasn't really focusing on him, she was listening to the song playing over the radio. It was sort of hard to hear over the chatter of people, but she could still hear it.
Guitar, aucustic, very cool and sort of--off from the norm. And when it finished and they announced the artist she laughed. "That was you? Why are you making that face?" She said with a smile. "It sounded good."

Indie sighed, sipping his coffee and licking his lips. "It's okay first time you hear it, then you hear it again, and again, and again. These radio stations are killing my songs," he complained, picking the sprinkles from his doughnut and placing them on the napkin on the table. "They're not meant to be listened to like this. I want them to be heard properly, y'know?" He sighed again, picking at the sprinkles he had just peeled off and putting them on the end of his tounge. He was truly a child at times.
"My music sounds better live," he shrugged, "The whole point of it all is so it's just me and my gutair. A lot of people don't get that effect when they listen to it like this. I don't want to be a one hit wonder.."

"I understand what you mean," She said with a kind smile, almost feeling bad. "But sometimes people need different things. or if you're like, who doesn't listen to the radio, its a relief to hear something different. It makes you wonder. This is creating your fan base, and then millions will come to see just you and your guitar." Sometimes things had to be exactly what we didn't want in order to get what we do want.
Toni took another bite of her donut and then sipped her ice coffee, feeling sort of like maybe she had said to much. Maybe she was caring too much already, more like a friend than a stranger, but who knew.
