Ol' Gullies was a small, shabby, pretty basic little Irish pub Robbie had worked at ever since his move to New York. Yes he hadn't really actually been old enough when he first arrived but what Irish bar manager could say no to a desperate Irish guy looking for a job. And he had the exsperiance behind him from the pub he had 'worked at' back in Ireland.
It was a pretty quiet night as far as it went, mainly just the regulars slumped and looking far too sorry for themsleves and a bucnh of kids that probably werent actually old enough were playing pool and attracting most of the attention by being loud. The night was so quiet in fact, that Robbie was the only one working and even he was leaning back on the bar top drinking a beer and watching the rugby game on the TV. Ireland were losing to Wales, surprise surpise.

Ivy could not believe it. This just couldn't be happening. She didn't want to tell him until she was sure. But it had been four days now. It was supposed to happen soon after the day they made up, her period that is. This was so bad that she ran all the way to the pub he worked at just to blow off steam. Thank God she didn't really sweat, but her hair was wind blown, and she probably looked sexy, but she felt frazzled. How could she tell him? But how could she not?
Ivy burst in the door and went right to the bar, palms down on the counter top, she tried to even her breathing. "We have a problem. A huge fucking problem." Granted, she hadn't taken a test yet--she was sort of afraid too. But she was on birth control, periods weren't irregular on the pill. But there was a chance it would be fine, but he had to know, just in case it wasn't.
"I need to talk to you, but I really don't want to have this conversation where the whole bar can hear us."

"OH FUCK! Run you stupid fuckin ass wipe, cunt fri..." Robbie was getting a little too into the game on the screen as he often did when his team played. Then he noticed Ivy and stopped mid way through his agressive rant at the player on the screen "Hey." it wasn't a common thing, for her to just turn up while he was working, she knew that he was on his 100th last warning about not working while he was at work so she stayed away.
His light tone and exspression didn't last too long when she mentioned a problem. She wasn't much of a drama queen so a big problem really was a big problem. "Yeah, er, come on to the back..." he said as he lifted the wooden part of the bar to let her behind it, good thing his bitch manager was away for the night. He let her go through first and stopped in the doorway to turn back to the bar "Lenny, you fuckin dare come over this bar while im in here, I'm putting your greasy head through that window, again." he warned the old guy closest to the guinnes outlet.
With the warning given he went into the back room and closed the door two "What is it?" he asked slowly trying to prepare himself though he had no clue of what to prepare himself for.

A few guys whistled as she ducked under the bar, but she didn't give a damn about them at all. She was terrified, and Robbie would know she wasn't kidding. She breezed over things, didn't get all fed up and worried about anything unless it was serious. She said nothing until the door was closed. She sighed, and swallowed hard.
"Okay, so I'm not 100% on this, and I haven't taken the test but I'm four days late... and that's not supposed to happen."
The words were measured, even, almost robotic, like she'd been practicing, or couldn't believe what she was really saying. If she was pregnant again, how could she give it up? How could she kill it? And if she kept it, no way Robbie would stay. And just when things were so good. he was bound to flip.
Sure they didn't use a condom the last time, but they didn't often. Her birth control pills obviously weren't fool proof. This proved it. But she hoped to God she'd wake up tomorrow with a feminine problem and things would be fine.

Robbie waited still not sure if he really wanted to hear what she was about to announce. When she did, he was more than right about not wanting to know. He started at her in horror and shock as he went back to what she had said the other day when they comfronted eachother on the subject 'If I got pregnant again, I wouldn't be able to give it away' that line played over a few times in his head before he snapped himself out of it. She wasn't sure. That was good new,, better than definatly.
He blinked and took a few paces as he tried to get his head to work the way it should. The way he was used to it working, mainly denial but it wasn't. He was usually pretty good at thinking the best of a situation, believing what he really really wanted to believe but this time it wasn't working. "Shit." he grumbled. She already had her plan for this, apparently. She was going to keep it. Him on the other hand, well, kids were something he really never wanted, ever, but definatly not now.
He paced somemore while he tried to figure put what to say. "And you're planning on keeping it." it was more of a statment than a question but it could have been taken either way. He was going to seem like the biggest ass hole if he said what he was thinking but he wasn't ready for this. He didn't want to stick around if there was going to be a kid. He wasn't the fathering type. He hated kids, they hated him, it was how it went and how he saw it staying for a long time.

Ivy bit her lip. Was she really going to have to choose between children and Robbie?Could she really chose between romantic love and parental love? Either way she would lose something forever. Giving her first away had been so hard, seeing her baby's face for only a moment and then never seeing it again. That face stilled haunted her, and though it wasn't a question, she answered, looking at her feet. "Yes, I think so." She sounded sad. she knew she'd be losing him, she wished it didn't have to be that way.
Ivy looked back at him again. "I don't know. I just.... it was really hard the first time, but losing you...." She shook her head. It was going to be the baby or him, she could only keep one. That was the hard part.
"I don't even know for sure yet. It could be a fluke, or I could miscarry, we aren't out of options yet." She didn't know what else to say. Ivy leaned against the wall and sighed, closing her eyes.
"I think God hates me." Every time things got fixed, they got shattered. Maybe she was supposed to have this baby and Robbie was supposed to stay, they would grow. But... they would also fall apart.

Robbie was looking down too by the time she spoke again. He didn't know what he was supposed to do in an incident like this. How he was supposed to react and what he was supposed to say. She already knew he wasn't sticking around for a kid and he already knew that she wasn't going to be able to give it up in any way.
Things had been going well with them since their little argument and he didn't want it to end. He did love her after all, it wasn't like it was going to be easy but it was going to be what, in his mind, was right. He could barely take care of himself nevermind commit to a kid and Ivy. "I know... But... I'm not ready for a kid, not even close. I'd... I just wouldn't..." he stuttered to an unfinished silence and looked at the ground again.
They weren't out of options yet but it would only make things harder if they stayed together until things got more official, right? It didn't sound like a good idea to Robbie but breaking up with her sounded even worse. He was so confused and overwhelmed with everything that he couldn't even laugh about her god comment. He didn't belive in god and if there was one, he was a satistic fuck who liked to mess with everyone and everything or sit back and watch as shit happened to innocent people and laugh. That was Robbies view on religion. But he was so lost in mad thoughts he hardly even heard her comment.

"I know you wouldn't stay." Ivy said looking at him with soft appraising eyes. "I do know you love me, but not enough for that. I understand." She was just going to have to respect him and his thoughts, his way of being. But really, what she was going to have to do was pick which was more important to her. Because she had no way of making Robbie stay, even before the baby. She had done it once on her own, she was sure she could do it again. Hopefully. This was really a child of love, even if its parents couldn't keep it together.
She put a hand on his shoulder, unsure of what to say. If she left now would he ever come to see her? It wasn't like she'd taken the test and it had said yes yet.

Robbie sighed and eventually looked up. He took both of her hands in his hand held them between them. He didn't know what to say, what he was going to do but he knew he had to at least say something. He opened his mouth to speak just as something clattered to the ground and smashed in the other room followed by howls and a heavy thud. "Ah shit. Go out of the back... I'll come by after work..." he said, giving her hands a quick squeeze and a light peck on the lips before he went back into the bar to break up the fight he had just been saved by. Now he as a little time to think over what he was going to actually say, what he could do and what they were going to do.

Ivy met his eyes and then left through the back, sort of feeling like his back up life, had to sneak around where she went. She felt low. it wasn't really his fault. Not really. Ivy knew she'd figured something out, but she wasn't sure what she wanted in the first place. She didn't know what to pray or, not that she prayed much, but... she figured it might work.
All she could do for now was wait for Robbie to come see her.
