I resolve to call her up a thousand times a dayAnd ask her if she'll marry me in some old fashioned wayBUT MY SILENT TEARS HAVE GRIPPED ME!!Long before I reach the phone, long before my tongue has tripped meMUST I ALWAYS BE ALONE?? Some birthday... she was single, pregnant and lonely.
Not to mention she hadn't called her parents yet. She was almost afriad to admit that she was pregnant, again. But today she was going to call her dad on his cell. Too risky to call the house. her mom would never understand.
It was late now and she'd had her party in the afternoon, lunch at a place that would check IDs, with the models. She told them she had plans later and they had to party then. Really she just wanted to avoid questions about why she wasn't drinking. Her bump had been hidden under her dress. But she was out of a job now. She was getting paid a little while on materity leave, but it was going to be rough. She was showing too much for normal clothes, and no Materinty magazine would take her because she was too young and they'd get in trouble, someone would say she was a teen and they were supporting teen pregnancy. Which she had been until today, a teen that is.
Ivy sat on her couch, looking around the room. She really was lucky, she had such a nice room, but she had the newspaper spread all around her, looking for an apartment because she couldn't keep a baby at school. But finally she grabbed some nail polish and the phone. And with her father on speaker, she started to paint her toenails.
Ivy told him the news, told him that she was keeping it, told him how Robbie had left her and how she loved him. He really was the perfect father. Not a judging word anywhere.
"Dad?" She said, "Why do we fall in love? I mean, I love Robbie, but he's a jack ass, selfish and proud.... but there's something in him thats good.... and not having him around... I keep crying, and you know how I feel about crying." Even as a child, she didn't cry about anything, unless she was trying to trick someone into giving her her way.
There was a pause on the line. "If he cares, he'll be back--maybe not to take you back, but he won't stay away. And if he doesn't come back, he was never worth it. I hope he knows what he's missing.... Damn, your mother is calling. Sorry Ivy, I have to go. We'll talk again later."
"Bye." Ivy said hanging up the phone, feeling sort of sad. She clicked on the TV. Funny Girl was on TV. And only after a few lines of the song, Ivy had to turn mute on, blinking back a tear. Stupid Robbie....
She rolled up her shirt a little, pushing her black sweatpants down slightly (she never wore sweats but none of her clothes fit anymore, so she had no choice) and she placed both hands on her growing stomach.
"*singing* I'd rather be blue thinking of you, rather be blue, over you, than be happy with somebody else" Read the closed captioning on the screen.
ooc- i know its kinda long. I wrote a draft in school, got carried away, lol =)

Robbie had known from the night she came and brought the idea to him of a baby at the pub that it wasn't going to be easy to leave Ivy. But he had thought he would be able to do it. To get over her and get on with his life even though he wanted to be with her. He'd left town the day after they had broke up and gone up to conneticute to work for a friend, it hadn't been a perminant thing, about a month but he lasted a whole 2 weeks before he broke.
Despite what he had thought, he couldn't, he was a total mess without her, maybe it was how they had ended, how he had been such a dick to her or maybe it was plain and simple him needing her around. But what ever it was, he just couldn't stay away anymore.
He knew it was her brithday but he decided he couldn't have waited or waisted the chance. And maybe she would be having a party at her dorm, that would make an argument a little less likely. But either way, as soon as he was back in New York, he went to hers. After picking something up from his aparmtent. He pulled up at her dorm and got out, the little box he had picked up in his back pocket. He went up to her room and hesertated to know on the door.
This was maybe the biggest decision of his life and it was no wonder he was a bit jubious to go ahead and do it. He closed his eyes and took a breath and knocked on the door. He waited for her to open, looking at the floor and his foot tapping nervously. He had been a prick to her and he wouldn't be surprised if she didn't want to see him. Didn't want to forgive him. Didn't want him anywhere near her and her kid but he couldn't not try and it would be worth the rejection and the bash to his pride.
----- Wow.... you really did get carried away. Good post though =D

Who in the world would that be? Ivy really didn't feel like getting up, and maybe she should just call, but that would add more time overall if she had to get up to let them in anyway. Maybe it was a friend, but her clothes didn't hide her bump, and she hadn't really told anyone yet.
"Coming!" She called. Then she sighed and heaved herself off the couch and onto her feet. Ivy padded quietly to the door, one hand on her back, she didn't even care about hiding the fact that she was showing or that she had her shirt slightly rolled up because of it.
Ivy hauled the door open and stopped short. What the hell was he doing here? And more importantly what was she going to say or do about it? Robbie. God, it made her heart melt. She wanted him back, but she doubted he was really here to stay, and that just hurt more. Ivy tugged down her shirt, almost ashamed of herself now, that baby was the reason she didn't have him. But he was all those things he said. She hadn't seen him in two weeks and she wanted to just throw her arms around him and sob. But she put on a tough face and they stood there in silence for a long time.
"I'm not sure what I want to say to you." Ivy said. "And since you're the one who came to me, i'm assuming you have something to say. So go ahead and say it." Her words weren't harsh, just defensive, as if she were just waiting for more bad news and wanted it over with.
ooc- lol, yeah i'm not doing anything in class so, i had time.... I'm glad it was good =) thanks, i liked yours too

Just seeing her was enough to make him regret staying away for so long, even the two weeks seemed like the dumbest thing he had ever done when he lay his eyes on her, belly or not. He hardly noticed and hardly flinched at the thing behind it. He looked up when he heard her speak and was chewing his top lip as he tried to work out what he was going to say. "I... Can I just come in. Please." he said gently almost like he was begging but not that whiney, yet.
He didn't really want to have the conversation on her door step and he had a lot he needed to say. He needed to apologies for leaving, for causing the fight, for being such a dick, for everything. And he needed to tell her how much she meant to him and how he couldn't leave. How he, as weak as he thought it was, really needed her. How he'd been so messed up without her. And most of all, he needed to convince her that she should give him another chance. A chance to be her boyfriend and a chance to be the dad he was still slightly doubtful he could be. He knew he was going to stay, he just doubted that he was going to be good at it. He needed to tell her he loved her and that given a little time, he'd love the kid too.

Ivy wished she cloud slam the door in his face for what he put her through, but she stepped aside and motioned inside. "Yeah, come in." She gave him a half hearted smile. She didn't know if she was about to get her heart broken or have it begin to heal. She didn't know if she should tell him how much she'd missed him, how may times she'd cried over him, weak as it felt.
Ivy closed the door behind him and went over to turn the Tv off and hang up the cordless phone she'd left on the table. She just wanted to keep busy, but she was so tired that she just wanted to sit down, wanted him to hold her. She sat down on the couch and looked at him. "Well?" Her voice was soft now, vulnerable and worried, her brows puckering together slightly.

Asking to come was also another way to delay things, he didn't know why he even bothered, it wasn't like 1 minute wasn't going to help him out even a little bit. He sat down when she did, leaving some distance between them but not too much. He didn't say anything for a moment, he was still trying to put it all into an understandable order in his head but all he was getting was mixed up thoughts and feelings. fuck it he mentally scolded himself before she snapped him out of it by ushering him on.
He chewed on his top lip for a second longer before he started to talk "I, I've... I'm sorry, for everything. For leaving, for being a total idiot and starting an irrelivent fight. For saying everything I said to you." he took a breath before he started to spit it all out too fast for her to grasp. "I just, I was being a coward and I didn't think it would have been as bad as it was. I mean... I knew it was going to be hard. No matter what I said, I do love you and I just... I didn't know what to do." he paused again to take a break and think for a second.
"I've been fighting with myself for the past two weeks, telling myself you were right when you said I couldn't be a father and that you and the baby were better off without me but, again, like you said, I'm selfish and I couldn't stay away whether thats right or wrong." he was kind of rambing now but he couldn't help it. "I'm not saying I'm not scared, and I'm not saying you should take me back. But... I need you, and even if you're not going to forgive me... I'm gonna be here, for you and our baby..." that was the hardest and scariest part, but he managed it. He went silent after that, to give her chance to react, take it in and say something.

By the time he had finished talking she had water filling up her eyes, a single tear trailing down her cheek. He'd said everything she'd wanted to hear, and half of her wanted to tell him that she wasn't taking him back on principle, but the truth of the matter was, she loved him far too much for that.
"Robbie..." She managed, her voice catching. And then she was hugging him, as tightly as she could without squeezing the baby bump that now settled between them. He really was a good guy after all. It didn't matter if he was only coming back for him. If he had done it just for her then she wouldn't have believed that he cared.
"You hurt me, you really did. And you should know I have every right to hate you for it." She was scared too, it wasn't like she didn't have to grow too. "And maybe I shouldn't take you back, but I am--on one condition, that you mean it because I don't think I can lose you again during this." It wasn't like he had to marry her or anything, they didn't even have to live together, he just had to be hers.

It felt so good, to have her back into his arms. It almost whiped away the guilty feeling in the pit of his stomach at the sight of her tears. He looked into her watery eyes and gently rubbed away the stray, runaway tears from her cheek with his thumb. "You're not going to be able to get rid of me again." he said with a small smile and a long pause just to looking to her eyes and hold her. "Oh, I fucking missed you." he sighed leaning his forhead against hers.
He broke the space between their lips to kiss her carefully and slowly and not for long before he pulled away as much as he dared. "And happy birthday." she smiled and reached back to his pocket and pulled out the small wrapped box that looked like a jewelry box and held it out for her on his palm. "It's not a lot but..." he said quietly. Okay, it hadn't cost him a penny, it had been lying around his apartment since he moved in but it was the meaning that was behind the silver key to his apartment.
Hed made his mind up, on the drive back from conneticut. That he was going to do this the right way, maybe it wasn't the right order but he needed to show her that he really meant it and he really wanted her there with him. It only seemed like the next place they were headed to and he was the one that had to initiate this one. He did owe her.

Ivy sighed with relief, like her whole body had been tight and tired for years, like she was just waking up. The kiss was like fire and she clung to him with one arm as he handed her the little box. It made her think of the beautiful necklace that chris had given her. Good thing she wasn't planning on wearing it. What could Robbie afford? Besides, he'd already given her the best present.....
"Robbie, you didn't have to. You gave me you." She said looking up at him. He'd come back, and that was more than she ever dared to dream for.
She opened the box carefully, not exactly sure what to expect. A key? It was a house key, maybe the key to his apartment. Didn't she already have a key somewhere though? For when they dropped in on each other. Maybe not, her brain was jumbled and she was so emotionally fried.
She flipped the silver object in her hands. Did this mean she was just allowed to come over whenever, or was this a 'move in with me' key?

Robbie waited for her to open the box, he didn't even regret it as he felt the words fall from his mouth when she had it "I want you to move in with me." he said not breaking eye contact. He'd already had the time to freek about the decision, he'd gone over it and over it a lot before he finally deceded that he was going to go ahead and ask the question.
His roommate was moving out some time during the week though he was pretty much moved out anyway, just not officially and it just seemed like the perfect time for her to move in, he knew he loved her and that they were in it for the long run now. Moving in was just the next thing along, and she was going to their baby and wouldn't it make sense if they lived in the same place?

At first, she almost didn't believe him, but looking back into his eyes made her start to cry. She had been so emotional lately, damn hormones, but she was so happy she could barely contain them. Not only was he back, with her, with the baby, but he was commiting to her and them in a way she'd never have imagined.
Ivy threw her arms around him and kissed him deeply. What on earth could she say? She pulled away after a long moment and pressed her forehead to his. "Of course I will." It felt a little like a proposal, of course it was, just not one of marriage.
"What about your roommate?" There was hardly enough room in that apartment for all of them, and moving in as a couple thing wasn't really the kind of thing you did with another people. She was selfish too, only a little bit of her felt bad about kicking Rob's roommate out.

Robbie kissed her back, he kind of got her answer just from the kiss and his lips were plastered with a wide smile. Commitiment still scared him but it just seemed worth facing his fears. It was going to take a lot to not lose the balls he seemed to have found but he wasn't going to leave again. He couldn't leave her, not again. And it wasn't going to be easy now that she was starting to show, she was out of her job and he was going to have to try and scrape up even more money that he didn't have now. He'd have to take another job, work during the night at the pub and maybe pull in a favour and get a job with his friends machanics company. It was going to suck but they had to pay rent somehow. Who knew how they were going to survive when there was a baby taking up all their money too.
"Kyle's moving out at the end of this week, he's hardly been there anyway, I've seen him like, twice, in passing in the last month." Robbie told her with a small shrug. "It just means I'm not gonna have some good left overs anymore. Thats like the best part of living with a cheff." he laughed. Robbie was never home for when Kyle cooked but there was always stuff left behind to Robbie to eat, he never cooked, he knew how to but he never had to.

That all made sense, Ivy wasn't even sure if she'd ever met Kyle, and if she had, she'd probably been kissing Robbie, so it wasn't surprising that she didn't remember him. "Well, I'm not a terrible cook." She laughed lightly.
"As for money, just so you know I'm sort of on materinty leave, I get some cash, but nearly as much as before. I'll try to get some sort of job though, shuffle papers or just help out at the agency if I can. And I know how you feel about accepting money, but my parents are bound to send us some." her parents could afford it. Her dad was a good shirk and earned lots. Her mother still had money saved up from her years as a doctor. She was an only child, so there was only one college fund to save. Not like it would be easy, but at least it would be easier.
Ivy bit her lip and cupped his cheek in her hand, rubbing her thumb lightly against his skin. he was really here. here with her. In one piece, asking her to live with him, saying he was going to try and succeed with this. "I'm proud of you Robbie." She said very quietly, maybe he didn't even hear. And she was, he'd taken a huge step.

Robbie raised his brow at her when she said she wasn't a bad cook "Then why haven't I ever had anything cooked for me?" he teased, he cooked for her, once, Itailian, the only thing he could really do, that and microwave meals. Oh and he was really really good at takeout.
Robbie just kind of nodded his head reluctantly when she said about accepting money from her parents, he didn't like it but sometimes push came to shove and he had to shove his pride to the side a little bit, until things got easier. He'd kind of been planning to get a more, rewarding job recently. Nothing big and fancy, maybe plumming he had done the course, before he moved to New York but he hadn't ever really gone ahead and done anything much with it. The odd thing here and there but that was it.
He rolled his eyes a little when she said she was proud of him and gave her a short, small kiss. "You didn't really believe I could stay away did you." he whispered before he kissed her again. "That means you have tomorrow off, right? If you're not working anymore." he said with a grin. "That means we can start moving you in, right?" he was kind of eager to get her to move in, gave him less chance of backing out and changing his mind and it would just be good to have her around as much as possible.

Actually, yes, yes she had. Ivy believed that she would never see him again, not until the baby was born and he wanted a booty call. She figured there was no other way. Of course she wanted to be wrong. Obviously she had been., and she had never been so happy not to be right.
"No, I'm not working. I'll have to pack, and tell the college, but yeah. I could move in as soon as you want me in." Ivy said with a little smile, kissing him lightly. It wasn't like she'd have too much to pack, her stuff was pretty together, and they'd share the basic things like furnature, she could sell her old stuff, or ship it home.
