In theory, the whole telling the parents thing wasn't that big of a deal. After all, getting married and having kids were both pretty big things. Parents had a right to know and kids really should tell them. The thing is, life doesn't really follow the whole "in theory" thing. Lexi was pacing around her apartment, grumbling to herself about the stupid maternity clothes she had to wear now that she was showing. The whole being pregnant thing? Totally glamorized on tv and stuff. Lexi wasn't quite enjoying it. It was odd to have this extra bulge in the front of her body when she was used to her former shape. She also didn't appreciate the nausea, heartburn, and cravings that accompanied it.
When the doorbell of her apartment rang, Lexi all but ran to answer it. It wasn't as if Will was late at all. It would be another half hour before her parents even got there. She was just a little on edge and... Well, she really needed a hug.

Will wasn't late, if anything, he was early. But he knew Lexi, even better by this point. A few months had gone by and she was showing. It was time to tell the parents, they'd been putting it off long enough, they really had a right to know. Truth was though, he was terrified to meet her family. Could he make a good impression? He figured so. But that didn't dull his fears.
He had to come from work, but he hoped his attire would be alright. he really didn't know how you dressed for this sort of thing. Obviously it had never happened before.
When Lexi opened the door, he kissed her gently and wrapped an arm around her, holding her close. "Hello." He said with a smile, trying to calm her fears at least.

Lexi grinned happily when she saw Will on the other side of her open door. She was only too eager to lean against him and feel his lips press against hers. "Hey, you!" she greeted him, wrapping her arms around him. She wrinkled her nose at the inconvenient little belly that was separating them. "Don't you look lovely!" she commented, taking a step back to look him over. Will really did look fantastic, and she was glad to have him here. "My parents are gonna love you," she told him, trying to sound more sure than she felt. It wasn't as if there was anything wrong with him. Except for the fact that shew as pregnant now and it was half his fault. Still, Lexi's parents weren't half as hard to appease as she figured Will's would be.
Before she had much chance to say anything, Lexi heard a knock on the door. "Just like mom. Trying to surprise us by being here early," Lexi mumbled, shaking her head. Taking a deep breath, Lexi half-danced over to the door, opening it slowly. "Hey!" she greeted her parents, waving them in. "This is... uh... Will," she mumbled, not really sure what else to say.
Completely oblivious to the pooch on her daughter's belly, Lexi's mother all but tackled Will with a warm hug. "Will, darling! Lovely to meet you!" she gushed. Mrs. Morgan always had been quite a hugger. Hopefully it wouldn't freak Will out.
Lexi's dad simply tilted his head toward Will, acknowledging his presence. "I understand you two have something to discuss with us?" he asked, walking past the three of them and taking a seat on the couch. Lexi let out a nervous chuckle. Her dad was usually more personable than this, but, of course, Lexi was his baby girl. He probably had a right to be a little snippier than usual.

Will smiled but he didn't get, much time alone with her. His mother nearly flew into the room and threw her arms around him, He just laughed brightly (which felt good, but only relieved so much anxiety). She seemed a nice woman, but her father's reaction was much more what he'd been expecting. How much did they know already? Would Lexi want him to do the talking?
Will sat down next to his fiancé. It felt weird to even think of her as that, only because they'd met such a sort amount of time ago--well--maybe now it was just short for an engagement. "Um..." How to begin?

Lexi frowned at her father. "Really now, Dad. You don't have to be a jerk." She took a seat on a large cushy chair, tucking her feet underneath her. Unfortunately, this position only emphasized the rather awkward little bump on her belly. All at once, her parents seemed to realize what was going on.
"Alexis Danielle. Tell me that is not what I think it is," he mother began. Lexi felt her cheeks heat up. "You might have mentioned why you wanted us to come here."
Lexi bit her lower lip. What was she supposed to say? Of course it was what her mother thought it was. Unless the woman had some bizarre idea about a beach ball taped to the girl's belly. "We're getting married," she blurted. Lexi clamped a hand over her mouth and her eyes widened.
Her father cleared his throat and directed his toward Will. "Just how long have you two known each other? I've never heard anything about you and here my Lexi says you're getting married." Lexi flinched. That wasn't an answer her parents were going to want to hear.

It dawned on her parents very suddenly and Will started to feel even more uncomfortable, if this was good, what on earth would his father be like. His mother would hardly bat an eyelash. Her exuberant mother seemed to be having a silent heart attack while her father was staring him down.
"Not nearly long enough sir." Will said deciding honesty would be the best policy. "About 4 months." He said finally dropping his eyes and then looking sideways at Lexi for support. he was going to need it.

Lexi shook her head at her parents, quickly deciding they were being ridiculous. She stood quickly and moved to the love seat so that she could sit beside him. Half for support and half for comfort, Lexi snuggled close to Will. "I love him, you guys. Can't that just be enough? Do you really have to make a bigger deal about it than it is?" She felt her lower lip jut out in a bit of a pout.
Her mother crumbled instantly and grinned at Will. "Well I'm happy for you! You treat my baby good, okay?" Lexi blushed at her mother's words and turned her eyes toward her father. He was obviously the difficult one here. He stared at the two of them for quite a while before he showed any sign of accepting what he'd just been told. "You better take care of her, boy."

Will sighed in relief, oh thank god! Granted, they still weren't happy, but at least they weren't mad at him, or at her. They didn't ask for specifics, or how pregnant she was or anything else--at least not yet. "I promise I will." Will said looking at her father and then at the mother. he was promising them both. But how could they not believe him? He was a good person, and as long as they didn't think men with british accents were flirts or something (some people did) then they would be fine.
Will had taken Lexi's hand at some point during this, thankful to have her so close.

"And when's the baby due?" her mother asked, finally making the subject of the pregnancy one that could be talked about. Now that she thought about it, though, Lexi wasn't quite sure. She'd been to the doctor and all, but she'd never really paid a whole lot of attention to the whole due date thing. She'd always kind of focused on what she was supposed to do to keep it (and herself) healthy.
Counting back the time in her head was pretty easy. "I guess I've got another five months," she told them with a shrug. It still felt kind of surreal, though. Without thinking about it, Lexi took the hand that was joined with Will's and used it to place both Will's hand and her own on her tummy. The baby had begun to flutter lately and she always thought it was a pretty cool feeling.
"Have you told his parents yet?" her father asked. Lexi felt like her heart missed a few beats. Hopefully Will would field that question for her.

Will hadn't felt the baby flutter before, and he smiled a little as he felt their child move inside her. Five months? That many?...That few? He couldn't believe how little time they had, to plan a wedding, to have a baby, to start a life.... Will felt like his life was being thrown at him. But it wasn't a bad life.
His parents? Will bit his lip.
"They're next," he said. They just thought that her parents would be easier to deal with, they'd be the one's finding fault with him over her condition.

Her parents didn't look particularly satisfied about the fact that Will's parents didn't know about the pregnancy or the engagement yet, so Lexi rushed to offer an explanation. "We just... you know... wanted you guys to know first. The whole ladies first thing and all... I guess." She offered them a hopeful smile. Her father didn't look convinced at all, but her mother offered her a bright grin in return before turning to shed some of her beaming grin on Will.
"Yes, well. Your father and I need to check into our hotel, so we're going to go do that. I'd like to meet the boy's parents once they've been told." It wasn't a question. It was a statement. And Lexi winced at it, her stomach churning unpleasantly. Frowning, she pressed a hand to her mouth and ran to the restroom.
By the time she'd emerged from the bathroom, her parents were on the way out the door. She hugged them quickly, not all that sad to see them go. Things were confusing enough as it was. "Finally," she mumbled. "That went pretty well," she commented, grinning and reaching out to take Will's hands. She only hoped things with his parents would go so well.

Will would have kissed her, except for the fact that she'd just gotten sick a moment before. So he kissed her forehead, her neck and held her close to him. What a first meeting! He really wasn't sure if they liked him at all, but he was sure they didn't hate him. He figured he was decently likeable and at least a decent, put together guy.
"I think we should tell my parents tomorrow. Just to get it out of the way. I say we try and get my mother first and then the three of us tell my father. He'll be harder to win over on this." He said looking down at Lexi tenderly.
"But yes, that went very well concidering the circumstances." Her mother liked him, he was sure of that. But her father... that made sense though. Father's were like that.

Lexi sighed, her head snuggled up against Will's chest. She'd almost let herself forget that they did have to tell Will's parents. She had a feeling they were going to hate her. His father, at least. It wasn't as if she'd really done anything wrong, but she figured she'd be the first girl that Will ever brought home pregnant. That would be enough for the preacher to hate her, wouldn't it?
It only took a second for that anxiety to dig at her and Lexi felt warm tears welling in her eyes. She squeezed her eyes shut, tucking her head harder into Will's chest. The meeting with her parents had gone well, but they'd expected it to. They both knew that things would be harder with his parents. Her lower lip trembled and she let out a quiet sob. "They're going to hate me," she murmured into his chest.

"No sane person could hate you," He said softly, kissing the top of her head, since her lips were so nestled in his shirt. He wrapped his arms around her tenderly and just held her. His dad might hate her, for a while, but more likely he'd just be disappointed in his son. Will always tried to hard to be exactly what his parents wanted, even after he moved out.
