True, a flower shop wasn't somewhere people tended to just hang out. Lexi had never been very good at doing what was expected, though. Today, she'd gotten out of the bed, gone to an entirely too long and too rigid (not that she'd ever complain about the rules) ballet practice, and finally been set free in time to get a cup of coffee around noon. That left her with most of the day open.
Having no plans, she returned to her apartment for a quick shower and a change of clothes. As per usual, she left the house in a dress and carefully selected accessories. It wasn't as if she never dressed down. She was just a fan of skirts and dresses. They had this wonderful way of swishing when you walked and twirling if you took the time to spin around.
The summer sun was one of Lexi's favorite things and the minute she made it back outside, she knew she'd be searching for one of the more colorful places in the city. Her favorite florist was a ten minute walk from her apartment, so she headed there. Upon entering, she set out in search of the perfect bloom. The day simply called for a flower and she couldn't chance leaving here with the wrong one!
She had just picked up a soft pink rose and was twirling around, flower in hand and skirt billowing from the motion, when the sound of a tinkling chime came from the door. Yes, it was New York, and she didn't know everyone, but being a principal dancer for one of New York's favorite ballet companies meant that she did know quite a lot of the residents, so she delicately replaced the flower in the cooler and flounced out to the front of the store to see who'd come in.

Getting up that day Selena had grown a bit lazy, it was her day off so straightening her bangs out a bit she let her hair flow as it wished to, not really giving a care. Then putting a bow on the side of it she smiled lightly to herself and slipped on a jean skirt and a plaid shirt that hung a bit off her. The shoes she put on, hobbling around her room and as anyone could imagine, her hobbling around her room was a site to behold. With that she grabbed her leather jack and her messenger bag and skipped out of her dorm room...literally skipped out of her dorm room. It was funny to see peoples expressions when she skipped by laughing, her feet did not seem to get in tangled to much though so it was not as if she was like some sort of animal going threw the hallway.
Pushing the glasses up on her nose she got out and glanced around a bit, where would she be heading to on this fine day of freedom? Hm...she had her sketch pad and well...the flower shop always was a interesting place to be doing a few good sketches. The owner never seemed to mind, sometimes they even hovered over her shoulder but it did not bother her all that much, she had grown use to it after being in her art classes. So her feet moved left foot hitting the pavement first and she made her way off to the flower shop, sketch pad and all. It was exciting to have a day to just draw and perhaps she could meet someone today, she had been seeing a lot of new people lately and being a little social.
Coming to the door she pushed it open lightly, the chime went off as soon as she did and she stepped in making sure to close the door behind her lightly. Smiling she pulled out her sketch book and a pencil, pulling her hair back she seemed to be a bit out of it at the moment. Then looking up she noticed someone and gave a light smile, she was in a exceptionally good mode and this person gave her a sort of idea. "Hm" she tapped her chin and tapped her foot on the ground for a moment, her nose wiggled a bit as she looked to be in a deep thought. "You" she pointed at her and grabbed the soft pink rose setting it in the woman's hands "will be my inspiration for this particular master piece" she tapped her pencil to the sketch pad.
"After all you seemed to be the exact person I am looking for" taking her sketch pad and picking up she smacked her forehead with her hand. "My names Selena by the way, aspiring artist" it was a proud statement as she stood there and she realized she might of come off a bit rude. "I'm terrible sorry to do that but I just got so excited" she said her voice was soft and melodic, "the mind of a artist you know". Putting the pencil behind her ear she looked at her "though you are perfect for this particular piece of artwork so if you don't mind I might use you as a reference". It was not very polite to use her as one if she did not want it

It took Lexi a moment to realize that she did not, in fact, know the girl that had come skipping (yes, skipping) through the door. By the time she'd determined that and was about to turn away again, the girl was pointing at her. Lexi blinked at her, curious as to what she wanted. How could she be an inspiration for some piece of artwork? It didn't quite make sense. She let out a nervous laugh and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. She'd never been an inspiration before. Not that she was aware of, anyway. It sounded like fun, though, and she was pretty sure she wouldn't mind giving it a try.
A bright grin spread over Lexi's face as the girl handed her the exact rose she'd been holding before. Without much thought, she twirled around with it again, her skirt billowing around her once again. She really was lucky she hadn't ended up showing her underwear to everyone around her yet. She had a tendency to do that. Although that just meant she kept a collection of pretty underwear. And that most of them completely covered her butt.
Lexi couldn't help but giggle as the girl tried to explain her way out of what she'd just done. If she'd been talking to anyone else, they might have thought she was rude. Lexi, on the other hand, was quite used to directors and choreographers who drew inspiration from the strangest of places. She was also used to being told where to go and what to do. "Lexi. I'm a dancer. And I'd be more than happy to help you out," Alexis replied. She shook her head, still laughing a little, and took a moment to look around the rest of the flower shop. There weren't a lot of customers here, but it still seemed a little odd to Lexi that this girl was coming to a flower shop to construct what she thought would be a masterpiece. "Do you always draw flowers?" she asked, truly curious even though she knew it was none of her business.

There was a nervous laugh and Selena was in more of a gitty mood then normal it was odd to her but hey it happened to be the mood of this place. Watching the girl spin Selena had a sort of photographic memory and she kept going back to that, her hand moving in a smooth motion. Hearing a giggle from her explanation it made her a bit happy, obviously this girl had thought her not to be weird or she would not have giggled and been happy. It was awesome how there were people in this town that were willing to help someone like her out, it was also a lot of fun for her. People were curious things to her, some of them at times seemed upset for someone giving them attention like this yet the girl did not seem to mind in the least bit.
"Ah dancing, I take classes for fun really" her deep brown eyes looking up from the sketch book to the dancer who was spinning around earlier it was quite nice of a picture. Someone who had a appreciation for life, someone who instead of like most would simply give some sort of fake pose this was real. It was life in real action, that was exactly what she wanted to catch...the ups and downs of life maybe even someone in the rain one day. Ideas ran threw her head and she loved every minute Selena's mind was always working like some sort of machine. Nothing, not even people trying to put her down could make her put the pencil down, to stop these thoughts and observations from flowing on paper.
"Hm it depends" she said sitting on a stool as she sketched the girl lightly "I appreciate a flare for life" her legs were crossed as Selena spoke gently. "Most artists try to capture more...depressing moments in there art do they not?" she raised her eyebrow and looked at Lexi. "I want to do everything, I want to show people that in this dark world there is still a flair for life that Da Vinci or Michelangelo captured so long ago". Words coated in passion as the left her soft lips and she gave out a small laugh as she realized she must of sounded like she was rambling. "Now dancer Lexi enough about me, what about you?" she said as she looked down at the sketch bad still listening to her "do you often come into a flower shop spinning so perfectly?" [/size]
