Zackary had been working at the train station all day, sat on a small bench agains the wall playing her guitar and singing. She did so to make extra money, because her wages as a waitress weren't as brilliant as some people might have thought. With her trusty guitar in one hand, and her Evian water in the other, she had descended the stairs into the station, where she sang most tuesdays. Zack flicked her long hair out of her face as she began her next song, placing the water bottle on the floor and holding her guitar in the way that she found most comfortable. She enjoyed playing; it was as if she was dreaming a brilliant dream. She often wished that one day she could perform these songs to crowds alot larger than the queue of people who were buying train tickets. She strummed quietly as her strong, but sweet voice potrayed the feelings she had put into words.
''I've marched to the beat of my own drummer That's been frantically searching for his page I lost my sanity in an exchange for summer And in the end, I didn't want either anyways''
Zackary kept her eyes closed as she sang these very true lyrics, smiling slightly as she heard a chink of money get dropped into her hat at her feet.
''I've a passion that's been burning on my insides And I just wanted to know you feel the same Your smile's so wondrous, I crack up every time When I'm with you, because I'm never afraid''
and Zackary continued to sing these heart touching lyrics about the love she had shared with an ex, before he had blown her off for some model girl.

Will was on his way to the park for a break, this was his day off and he wanted to spend it outside writing. He had his charged laptop securely in his messenger bag and he had promised himself that he was going to get some of that novel he wanted to write done, or started or something. Anything.
He paused on the platform as he heard someone playing a guitar and singing., they were pretty good. Maybe he could get an article out of it. He was always allowed a freelance piece, and maybe one compelling enough to help out this girl. She was pretty, young, and had many people listening to her. He made a mental note to come back here with a camera.
He dropped a five dollar bill into the container. She deserved more, but he wasn't exactly rolling in dough. Will waited for the song to be over and clapped along with everyone else. "Um, sorry to bother you, but could I talk to you for a second?" He said, his british accent lilting into his words.

Zackary loved singing. Actually, no, that was an understatement, she adored singing. To her, it was her life, and being able to play guitar was even more satisfying. She opened her eyes and grinned at everyone who were clapping in the line, not bothering to check her money. She wasn't like that; there was a time and place for everything, and she would count her wages when she got home. Her bright blue eyes twinkled as she laid her guitar against the wall. It was so amazing, to sing for all of these people and get applauded at the end. The feeling was just amazing, self-accomplishment and happiness stirring her insides. She had butterflies as a man spoke behind her in a british accent. Zackary turned around, absent mindedly spinning the water in her hand. He wanted to speak to her? Zackary nodded and smiled, clearing her guitar case off of the seat next to her. She was always brought up to be polite. Her father had drilled it into her and her siblings, telling them off if they were discourteous in any way towards strangers. ''Yeah, sure'' Zackary moved up on the seat, smiling. ''Have a seat, if you'd like'' Then she realised what a dork she could have sounded. He might have just wanted to know what train to catch and what way. He was, after all, British, so was probably just a lost tourist. Her insides dropped and her face blushed a hot red, her eyes falling to the floor.

"Oh, thanks," he said sitting down beside her. It would have been rude otherwise. Brits were all about being polite, so despite the fact that he'd lived here most of his life, his mother never let him forget where he was from.
Will pulled out a business card with his name and information on it for his newspaper. "I'm no talent scout, but I think you could really go somewhere." He began with a little smile. "So I was wondering if you would let me do a piece on you. It wouldn't probably be in a main section, but it might help pulicize your work a little bit." Will shrugged a little, not wanting to pressure her or promise anything, but he thought it was worth a shot. She was obviously here enough that people recognized her, he could tell.

Zackary grinned perhaps a bit more than neccesary when he took the seat; at least she hadn't made herself look like an idiot. Yet. Zackary angled her body so she was facing the man. She hadn't noticed how attractive he was; his dark skin and styled hair gave him an air of grandeur. He didn't seem aware of how attractive he was, as Zackary's heart accelerated when he spoke in his attractive British tone. What came out of his mouth made her double take at what he had just said. Her heart stopped as the words rolled around in her head. Zackary stared over the mans shoulder as he assured her that it might help publicize her work a bit more. She couldn't find the words of gratitude that she felt tingle in her body. her throat went dry as she looked back at him, into his dark brown eyes. She blinked stupidly, and nodded. ''Yeah, sure'' She almost coughed, swallowing her throat moist again. ''That would be really wonderful of you'' She didn't think she could manage anything else, as emotion soared throughout her. Nobody had ever helped her before, apart from her father. It was such a selfless thing to do...

"Every time I write something good my boss lets me do a freelance piece." He explained with a little smile. "I don't know what times would be good for you to talk, obviously you're performing now, and I don't want to take away from that now." But now really would be a good time for him. His novel could wait, it had been waiting so long, no reason it couldn't wait a bit longer. Right?
"Unless you want to take a break or something and we can get something done now," he said kindly, seeing the gratitude plain on her face.

Zackary nodded. Her throat was alot more moist now, and she could probably manage quite a bit of talking without crying and thanking him so much for what he was about to do. ''Yeah, I'll take a break now, I think'' Zackary Grinned, her eyes sparkling. ''Would you like a drink?'' She pulled a flask from her bag and a cup. She had packed coffee for her breaks, and she only had one cup. ''I have coffee, I did pack it for myself, but, well, I have water, and i'm really not as thirsty as what I thought i'd be'' Zackary placed the flask between them, smiling happily. ''So, where d'you wanna start?''

"Oh, no thanks," He said at the mention of a drink. he was alright, and really sharing a drink with a stranger was just a bit beyond what he felt comfortable with, not that he expected anything was dangerous about her.
"Well, I figure start at the beginning, just tell me about yourself, your name, your music, you're experience in the subway, how often you're here, etc." He said pulling out a notebook and a pen from his messenger. This was people when they read it could come listen to her, contact her, things like that.

Zackary placed the flask on the floor. Straightening herself up, she began.
''Hmmm, well, my full name is Zackary Cassie Green. My dad named me Zackary because my mothers last words was that she wanted me to be called Zackary. The scan came up that I was a boy, but they got it wrong. My mother had already decided on the name Zackary. She never knew she born a daughter because she died giving birht to me.'' Zackary began, playing with a loose strande of cotton on her tee-shirt. ''I grew up with my father, 2 sisters and a brother. As soon as I was able to leave, I did, and I stay in a rented flat above a restaurant. I serve a a waitress in the restaurant. On tuesdays I come down here to play my music. It's my day off at the restaurant today.''
Zackary frowned, trying to decide on her words.
''I prefer playing my music that serving as a waitress, but I love both jobs. I sang at church when I was little, which is where I found my love for music. I taught myself guitar; you see, I found one in a rubbish heap when I was a little girl. We never had enough money for lessons, so I figured I could always learn myself. This is exactly that same guitar''
She nodded toward the brown, worn guitar laying up against the wall next to her.
''My music is influenced alot from real life experiences. I like to think that people can relate to the lyrics, because then I know people are on the same boat as me. Welcome aboard!'' She grinned, doing a sailors salute. ''Anyhow, I generally sing slower songs, although I would much rather prefer to do fast, upbeat, pop-rock stuff. As you can see'' She pointed to what she was wearing. ''I dress in a potrayal of what my mood is for the day, Today i'm happy and cheerful, hence the bright pink t-shirt''
Zackary smiled again at the man.
''Is there anything else you would like to know?''

Will was still writing when she was done speaking. He was a very good note taker, probably one of his best skills, writing and listening at the same time, not to mention noticing the little things that people do, like when she looked down or played with the edges of her clothes. She'd had a hard life, that much was obvious, but she wasn't a complainer, she had a good head on her shoulders, it wasn't hard to see. Zachary just wanted to play her music, to relate. And he had to make sure he got it all down on paper.
But he wasn't sure what else he wanted to know just yet, not completely. "So, how long have you been coming down here on tuesdays? A couple months? A couple years?" What was her 'fan base' like? If she sang here for years she might be a part of people's routine. "Do you ever miss a tuesday, or do people notice when you aren't here?" He realized he should probably talk to people on line and ask about her, but maybe he'd do that on another day.

Zackary nodded again, looking down at her clothes. She played with the rim of her t-shirt, noticing her chipped black nail varnish. Quickly hiding her nails, she blushed a bit, quietly scolding herself. She would have to do them when she got back home... she pondered the question for a minute.
''I've been coming down here since I was 14, and i'm 18 now, so round about 4 years, give or take a year..'' Zackary replied, looking back up at Will. ''Come to think of it, I don't think I have ever missed a day down here. Even when i'm ill, I come, because it's maybe the only thing I really look forward to'' She grinned again. ''You're probably thinking i'm a proper loser now'' She laughed. ''But it's really the only thing I completely enjoy in my life''
Yeah. She sounded like a definite loser.

"Not a loser, it all make sense." She was dilligent, she loved what she did, had an obvious passion for it. Not even sickness would stop her. Which would be good if she ever got into the business. Things would work out for her, he was pretty sure about that.
"Well, I guess that's enough for now." He said looking at his notes, its seemed like enough, he'd have to see once he started writing. "Is there a number I can reach you at? or should i wait until next tuesday?" He asked with a smile.
